Overview

The Advanced course in Nutrigenomics takes an in depth look into how genomics plays a vital role in nutrition, and how it can be utilized to design highly effective, personalized nutrition plans. The course begins with the basics of genetics, which will enable us to make our foray into the innovative world of nutrigenomics. We will then discuss the physiological process of eating, right from food consumption to food excretion.

Once equipped with this introductory knowledge of genetics and physiology, we will take a deep dive into the traits involved in nutrigenomics under a wide range of categories such as Intolerances, Eating Behaviour, Taste Perceptions, Micronutrient Metabolism and Macronutrient Metabolism. We will discuss the physiology of the trait, the genetic inferences, and the nutritional recommendations to be provided on the basis of these genetic inferences.

During the course, we will also discuss the different technologies involved in genetic testing, so that you are empowered with the knowledge to choose the correct technology while you are in the process of integrating genetic testing into your practice.

To wrap up what we have learned, we will take you through examples of how nutrigenomics can be incorporated into your daily practice with the help of case studies.

Requirements

This course is designed for health professionals including nutritionists, dietitians, lifestyle coaches, students and anyone interested in health & fitness. Basic Nutrigenomics course certification would be preferred.
